Madiha Afzal: Dr. Madiha Afzal is a David M. Rubenstein Fellow in the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Afzal’s research lies at the intersection of political economy, development, and security, with a focus on Pakistan. Afzal is the author of Pakistan Under Siege: Extremism, Society, and the State (2018).
Ayesha Ray: Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at King’s College, Pennsylvania. Dr. Ray’s research interests focus on civil-military relations, conflict, and security issues in South Asia. Ray is the author of The Soldier and the State in India: Nuclear Weapons Counterinsurgency and the Transformation of Indian Civil-Military Relations (SAGE 2013) and Culture, Context, and Capability: American and Indian Counterinsurgency Approaches (IDSA 2016).
Kamran Bokhari: Director of Analytical Development at the Center for Global Policy. Dr. Bokhari is also a national security and foreign policy specialist at the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute. Bokhari has also served as the Central Asia Studies Course Coordinator at the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute.
